Grade 1 listed Camblesforth Hall, dates from around 1690 and has been attributed to acclaimed local architect and craftsman, John Etty. It has been lived in by many prominent families across the years, each of whom has left their mark on the Hall. We are still delving into the Hall’s history and uncovering more about its past and residents.
More recently, unfortunately the Hall and grounds were forgotten and fell into a state of disrepair. The Hall was almost placed on the Heritage at Risk register until my husband and I took on the challenge of renovating it. We saw huge potential, both for the Hall itself to be once more a loved family home and for the Barns to provide a unique and fully flexible Wedding venue in The Grange.
Many of the Barns within The Grange also date from the 1700s and have had a variety of uses over the years. We have worked to sympathetically restore them, preserving as many of the original features as possible, to give you a unique wedding venue in Yorkshire.
This double story space is the perfect setting for your Wedding Ceremony. With its majestic high ceiling, stunning beams, drapes and ethereal lighting, including our cartwheel chandelier, the Coach House is where your journey into married life begins.
If you are having your ceremony in Selby Abbey, or one of the beautiful local churches then the ceremony barn can be used for an impressive entrance to your reception and photographs or for your drinks reception in case of poor weather.
Adorned with drapes, fairy lights, rustic chandeliers and authentic period detailing, The Hemmel Barn will wow your guests for your Wedding Breakfast. Whether you want a traditional 3-course meal, a hog roast, sharing platters or something completely different, this space can be made your own to fit in perfectly with your Wedding vision.
We provide tables and seating for up to 100 people, either on long or round tables and can set up the room however you wish.
Leading off from the Hemmel Barn is the Poultiggery Bar. With its unique blend of rustic glamour with a steampunk edge, the Poultiggery Bar provides the perfect venue for your evening reception. Equipped with a fully stocked bar, hand made on site from reclaimed barrels for your evening reception. (This can be extended to the afternoon if required).
